Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) has been leading the fight to reduce the regulatory red tape factory in Washington since he first came to Congress. And as a recent CNN report illustrates, that fight is more relevant today than ever, with the Obama Administration considering 219 major regulations this year – each of which would have an estimated cost to the economy of $100 million or more. In fact, seven of these regulations would cost more than $1 billion each, potentially taxing the economy with $100 billion of combined regulatory costs in a single year.

One of Congressman Boehner’s responsibilities as Speaker is to work with Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell to select conservative leaders to deliver the Republican weekly address. This past week, Boehner asked Ohio Governor John Kasich to speak to his efforts to create a better environment for long-term job growth in the Buckeye State. Under Kasich’s watch, Ohio recently successfully erased an $8 billion budget deficit without raising taxes, prompting the credit rating agency Standard and Poor’s to upgrade the state’s outlook.
