Boehner's Blog
On Cincinnati’s 55KRC Morning Show today, Congressman Boehner discussed high gas prices that are hurting families and small businesses in the Tri-State and called for President Obama and Senate Democrats to work with House Republicans to remove barriers to increased American energy production. Key excerpts are included below:
>> BOEHNER SAYS WASHINGTON DEMOCRATS – BACKED BY LIBERAL EXTREMISTS – ARE BLOCKING NEW ENERGY PRODUCTION AND DRIVING UP THE COST OF GAS:
“The fact is that for 35 years a handful of radical environmental groups have prevented the American people from a national energy policy that would have moved us awfully close to being energy self-sufficient. Why we’re sending hundreds of billions of dollars to the Middle East makes no sense at all.”
>> BOEHNER SAYS HOUSE IS ACTING ON BILLS TO REMOVE BARRIERS TO AMERICAN ENERGY & CREATE MLLIONS OF AMERICAN JOBS:
“The week before last, we passed the American Energy Act that would open up the inner mountain west, would open up parts of the Gulf of Mexico that have been off limits that would increase American energy production. In that same bill, we again try to force the president’s hand to approve the Keystone pipeline…”
>> BOEHNER: KEYSTONE PIPELINE WILL ADDRESS HIGH GAS PRICES, REDUCE DEPENDENCE ON MIDDLE EAST OIL:
“We’ve got 165,000 miles of pipelines in the United States. We know how to do this safely; we know how to do this efficiently. If we want to fill our refineries with Canadian and U.S. oil, it’s the Keystone Pipeline that’s going to make that happen. Not sitting around waiting for oil to come from the Middle East.”
>> BOEHNER URGES PRESIDENT OBAMA TO GET ENGAGED TO TAKE ON DEBT, JOBS:
“The president last Labor Day decided to check out. He’s been nowhere on the scene when it comes to trying to solve America’s problems. Nowhere. And even though we may have big disagreements, our job is to find enough common ground between the two parties to move the ball down the field and do what we can on behalf of our economy and get Americans back to work.”
